The 14-time Grammy award-winning superstar and her mom attended a Kansas City Chiefs game against the Buffalo Bills.
On January 26, 2025, Taylor Swift walked down the tunnel at Arrowhead Stadium with her mom, Andrea Swift, trailing a few steps behind her. Some fans found it disrespectful that Taylor wasn’t walking alongside her mother.

Taylor was dressed in maroon tights over a black skater skirt, black boots, and a black beanie. She paired this look with a black zipped jacket featuring brown patterns and accessorized with a black purse. Her mom, Andrea, wore all black, including a black purse, and complemented her outfit with a red trench coat.
As mother and daughter arrived at the stadium, Taylor alighted from the cart first and started walking, leaving her mom behind. She briefly glanced back to ensure Andrea was following and continued walking confidently as much as her mom had not caught up to her.

Fans found it strange how comfortable Taylor Swift seemed with her mom walking behind her, prompting some to question the moment. One user asked, “Why does she always want attention? Poor mom has to walk in the back so she can pose, it’s Travis’ night 😭.” Another fan wondered, “Why does she leave her mom trailing behind her?”

A third fan couldn’t understand, asking, “Why can’t she walk with her mom 😂.” One comment expressed frustration, “Shameful she lets the women that gave birth to her, walk behind her!” There was also speculation about the situation, with one person wondering, “Is that his [sic] mom in red behind her? I don’t think they like one another.”
Another user weighed in on the perceived disrespect, “Why does she always have to walk in front of her mom, have some respect.” A fan with similar views stated, “How sad. She leaves her mom behind.”
However, not everyone was critical. One fan appreciated Taylor’s bond with her family, “I love how she always hangs out with her parents 🧡.” Another fan also took a more positive view, noting, “Proud momma swift behind her ❤️.”

At the game that mother and daughter attended, the Chiefs narrowly defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29, securing their return to the Super Bowl. The victory sparked excitement in both Andrea and Taylor, who supports her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

One special moment captured on camera shows Taylor and Andrea, along with Travis’ mom Donna, sharing a group hug when the Chiefs snagged their second touchdown of the game to grab back the lead.
Taylor, who adores her parents, often includes them in special moments. In her song “The Best Day,” she celebrates her father, Scott Kingsley Swift, with lyrics like, “I have an excellent father, his strength is making me stronger” and “And I love you for giving me your eyes, staying back and watching me shine.”
In 2015, Taylor stood by her mom as she battled cancer. The pop star revealed that her Christmas gift request that year was for Andrea to undergo a health screening, despite feeling fine, to ease Taylor and her brother’s concerns.
Andrea agreed, and while there were no initial red flags, her results showed a cancer diagnosis. Taylor expressed her sadness in an emotional post, “I’d like to keep the details of her condition and treatment plans private, but she wanted you to know.”
Andrea wanted people to know about her diagnosis to encourage others to take proactive steps for their health. Taylor shared that her mom hoped this revelation would inspire fans to remind their own parents, who might be too busy juggling life, to get screened for cancer.
Andrea believed that a gentle nudge could lead to an early diagnosis, making the battle against cancer easier, or simply provide peace of mind in knowing that their health is intact.
